Research Experience
MgSe/ZnSe/CdSe coupled quantum wells by MBE with intersubband absorption covering 1.55 um
  • Optimized MgSe barrier and coupling layer thickness for material quality and achieved 1.55 um ISB absorption
  • Develope simulation program using Python to calculate confined energy levels and wave functions in multiple QWs
  • Successful growth of II-VI MgSe multiple quantum wells with ZnCdSe spacer on InAlAs buffer/InP substrate
  • Built special external measurement stage and alignment method systems to capture signals in FTIR absorption
MBE growth of ZnCdSe/ZnCdMgSe two-color quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs)
  • Grow and manufacture the first II-VI long-wave (~9 um) and mid-wave (~4 um) QWIPs and two-color QWIPs
  • Mid-wave detector worked up to room temperature and displayed a record responsivity of over 30 A/W (300K)
  • Core-structures growth and XRD PL FTIR characterization; Fabrication experience in Princeton University
  • Patent US 14/185,404 Februrary 2014, 4 publications and >7 conference presentation
Plasma assisted MBE growth and characterization of multiple ZnO/ZnMgO quantum wells
  • For the first time worldwide, measured intersubband absorption in ZnO quantum wells by FTIR direct absorption
  • Plasma assisted MBE growth for high quality ZnO crystal and XRD analysis to optimized quantum well layer thickness
  • Outstanding student paper award (MgSe/CdSe QW), 31st NAMBE 2015 (Cancum, Mexico)
